Portugal's native woodlands have been subject to deforestation and desertification for centuries, but there's still time to restore the land's natural forests for generations to come!
With your help, we will:
Why we do it
This initiative aims at reducing desertification, restoring deforested areas, revitalizing native ecosystems, and empowering local communities to restore their environment, as well as providing promotional support and visibility to continue the work of ecological restoration in Portugal. The introduction of native species will help ensure continued access to fresh water. Together, we can create a greener Portugal 🌲 As tree planting costs are higher in Portugal, we have aligned our costs to make sure we're creating an impact. We plant one tree for every 2 packages purchased towards Portugal.
Impact
This initiative is designed to have cascading benefits, including natural, social, financial, and inspirational returns. By restoring previously degraded land (from forest fires and desertification), and reintroducing native flora back to the land, we aim to restore water tables, prevent further soil erosion/degradation, create carbon sinks in the soil, and create a thriving ecosystem where native fauna can take refuge.
What You Get
A personalized tree certificate (see gallery) to say thanks for your donation. We'll also send you reports on our Portugal project, so you can track the impact your trees are having on the community and environment.
Tree Species
We plant a variety of native/endemic species that are suited for each particular biosphere. Some common species include but are not limited to: Arbutus Unedo, Quercus Suber, Quercus Robur, Quercus Faginea, Quercus Ilex / rotundifolia, Castanea sativa, Oliveira-brava, Fraxinus angustifolia, Populus, Pinus pinea, Laurus Nobilis, Prunus Spinosa, Salix, Myrtus (tarentina), Sambucus nigra, and Alfarroba.

How does EcoWorthWash plant trees?
For each item sold, we donate $1 to our partner, One Tree Planted.
We donate quarterly, and you receive a certificate from our partner to prove the trees have been planted.
Where are my trees planted?
Use the tree menu next to the cart icon to select where you want your trees to be planted.
If you can't choose, simply choose "Where they're needed most"
Some locations take more than 1 detergent to sap
Some regions, for example Australia, have an increased cost per tree. In these situations, we require 2 or 3 detergent packs to be purchased to plant once in that location.
